There are many search engines available and several of them allow searches on Usenet documents as well as web documents. The best plan is to try several search engines with the same search and compare results. Bookmark your favorite search engine's homepage.

- Answering Reference Questions Using the Internet is a great resource with many tips and links to aid in all kinds of searches.
- Web-Searching Tools includes links to many search engines and brief searching tips for each.
- Yahoo includes some subject organization, which can be very useful.
- Alta Vista is my current favorite. It allows some fairly sophisticated searching techniques.
