CanOpenER: Canadian Open Source Education and Research
"It is CanOpenER's intent to become a National advocacy group to educate Canadians about all aspects of the Free Software Movement, GNU/Linux, and Open Source Software. The initial emphasis of the group is to promote the use of GNU/Linux and Open Source Software in all publicly funded institutions of Canada. To acheive this CanOpenER will be working in conjuction with user groups, and other national or local entities that have similar goals and acting as hub of support for those groups and individuals that require it."

Free Software In Government
"Over the last several years, governments around the world have been able to chose something beside proprietary software owned and controlled by companies such as Microsoft. Many governments have chosen to adopt policies favouring Free Software, defined as software licensed to allow viewing and modification of the source code, as the basis of their information technology. In other words, they will only use a piece of proprietary, non-modifiable software if there is no Free alternative."

The main hub for Canadian Linux information was the Canadian Linux Users Exchange; this site includes links to Linux User Groups across Canada, but has been mostly dormant in tracking open source news.

Provides the investment community with information on Linux companies in Canada and the US. Their site archives past newsletters, company profiles, and sports a bookstore with pre-screened books relevant to investors in Linux stocks.
