Open Source Animation

Scooby Doo gets Linux power
IT-Director.com., June 19, 2002.
Slightly misleading title covering primarily recent developments offering open source based security solutions however it does provide some information on an application on animation: "The release of Scooby Doo at the cinemas has proved popular, with records being broken on the films release. The tale of the four kids and their canine companion is familiar to many, but transferring Scooby from the traditional cartoons to a computer generated model for this real life adventure needed the power of over 100 Linux desktops. Rhythm and Hues, the animators responsible for bringing Scooby to life, currently have 125 Linux systems and 300 SGI machines. The plan is to phase out the SGI estate by the middle of next year in favour of Linux boxes."
