Online, multiplayer version of of a series of computer games by Maxis and Electronic Arts. Players need to buy software and install it in their PCs and pay a monthly fee to participate on the online world provided by the game. Each player is given a number of characters, outfits, appearances etc. The economy is based on the online currency the simolean. According to a news story one million simoleans trade for about $22 on the auction site eBay.

We have no personal experience so can not judge the quality of the graphics and whole experience of living in that environment. It looks from some news reports as a 3D version of a MOO perhaps without having to learn programming to customize your participation. The need for a open source / free software version of such games remains in our view.
